Our constant connection to smartphones, tablets, computers/laptops and television screens contributes to a range of issues – from an increase in headaches, sleep disturbance, difficulty concentrating as well as dry or sore eyes.
It is recommended that when sitting in front of a screen apply the 20-20-20 rule; every 20 minutes you look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds to give your eyes a break. It’s a great habit to get into, but it isn’t always realistic, and it isn’t the only thing you can do to help your eyes.
Blue light glasses assist by reducing the amount of blue light reaching your eyes. These glasses are developed with a special filter to block blue light, particularly the shorter wavelengths of blue light that are believed to be the most harmful. Blue light glasses are intended to potentially reduce digital eye strain, improve sleep quality, and protect the eyes from long-term damage.

Sometimes I get light-sensitive headaches and my eyes can become sore and tired more quickly (especially after long periods behind a screen, or during the winter months with less light). I’ve found blue light blocking glasses are very useful at reducing this strain – they warm up the light giving my eyes a rest and enabling me to concentrate for longer, with less pain!
